Chelsea 0 - 1 Liverpool

Liverpool triumphant over Chelsea

Following the 1 - 1 draw against Atletico Madrid in Champions League, Liverpool went on to defeat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge; ending their 86-game unbeaten home record.

I watched the match on tv, i was impressed. Liverpool seems to be playing a different style of football. They were quick & extremely disciplined in defence, placing Gerrard between Keane and the midfield gave him a free role & it paid off handsomely.

Carra, Agger, Aurelio & Arbeloa combined & worked perfectly to deny Chelsea the equaliser. They played a solid game & Reina was rarely required to make a save.

Alonso's deflected 10-minute goal was a tad lucky, but it made all the difference between the 2 sides. After the goal, Liverpool was playing with more confidence & defended with plenty of resolute. I thought Chelsea would get the equaliser sooner or later with sustained pressure & possession of the ball.

We now go 3 points clear, topping the table.
9 games into the season, still early days though.

Liverpool 3 - 2 Wigan

Kuyt scores the winner for Liverpool
Kuyt scored 2 goals to stage Liverpool's comeback against Wigan

Again!!
How many times are we gonna see this scoreline (read: 3 - 2) this season?
Like what Rafa said, we must make life easier.

Steve Bruce's Wigan showed tremendous spirit by taking the game to Liverpool. They started the game really well & Zaki scored first to silence the home fans at Anfield. Kuyt then scored the equaliser, only to go behind again by another Zaki's goal.

Like the Man City game earlier, Wigan had 1 man (Valencia) sent off. Soon after the sent-off, Riera scored his first goal in a Liverpool shirt, pulling the score back to 2 - 2. Kuyt scored the match winner 5 mins later to complete Wigan's misery.

Though I enjoyed the victory, I thought Liverpool shouldn't always be "crawling" their way to victory. They ought to be more ruthless & aim to score first & score alot more than they are doing now. I hate to say this, look at Chelsea! 5 goals away from home with virtually the 2nd team, due to their long injury list.

Liverpool gotta be this effective to realise their title ambitions.
But for now, let's savour the comeback by Liverpool again.

Manchester City 2 - 3 Liverpool

Fernando Torres celebrates after scoring Liverpool's firstDirk Kuyt celebrates scoring Liverpool's winner
Our Heros of the Day!

Liverpool showed incredible grit, determination & character to come back from a 2-goal deficit to defeat Man City.

2 goals behind at the break, Rafa must have been extremely effective during the half-time break, Pool was a different side when they came back on to the pitch. Torres pulled 2 back to equalize, Kuyt added another in injury-time to bring the score to 2 - 3.

Martin Skrtel's injury was a shame though, hope he would be able to return to action soon.

With Arsenal faltering, we maintained our position on the table.
Seriously, Liverpool looked to be in contention for every damn trophy this season!
