Liverpool 1 - 0 PSV Eindhoven
(Champions League Quarterfinal, agg 4 - 0)

Crouch adds 1, making it 4-0 overall

So this is it. Another repeat of the 2005 Champions League semis - Chelsea vs Liverpool. Liverpool put up a reasonable performance against PSV to secure the semi-final berth to meet Chelsea; to fight for the final spot to Athens in May 07.

Liverpool fielded a side with some of the big names rested, Gerrard & Carra were rested. Both PSV & Pool were wary about going forward & the game soon become a lil' bored. But after an controversial sent-off of Dirk Marcellis by refeere, Liverpool were the more aggresive side with 1 man extra.

3 out of the 4 teams in the semis are English teams, I wouldn't wanna see a all-English final. Hopefully Milan can dispose of Man Utd & that would be a repeat of the 2005 final at Istanbul - AC Milan vs Liverpool in the CL Final.

*** fingers crossed ***

Titoudao

Worth every dollar spent

Caught Titoudao on a lazy Friday this week, took 1/2 day to r&r.
I must say that it was money well-spent. I only paid $28 for the matinee show at 1500hrs, because there was a promotion.

The cast was phenomenal and the story was moving, Pam Oei depicted the character of Madam Oon Ah Chiam/Titoudao almost to perfection that you would be so attached to the show during the 2hrs. The rest of the cast did really well too, I almost didn't want it to end.

Go watch it at the National Library Drama Centre if you can, runs till 31st March 2007.

Liverpool 0 - 1 Man Utd

Damn the champions' LUCK!!

How did we lose the game to Man Utd last night? I really have no idea.
To quote Rafa - "I would have difficulties in explaining how we lost in Spanish, it would have been impossible to explain it in English."

Damn it Damn it Damn it Damn it Damn it Damn it Damn it !!!!!!!!

Good Food & Company

Had dinner at Frankel Avenue recently, recommendation by an ex-colleague. Food was nice, service was alright, prices were reasonable too. I think i would go back there again...

Barcelona 1 - 2 Liverpool
(CL last 16 Knockout Rd)

It was worth waking up 0330hrs in the morning, it was a big game for Liverpool & with all the media hype abt both teams (Bellamy & Riise 'fight', as well as Eto's bust-up with Rijkaard).

Liverpool did really well to contain both Messi & Ronaldinho, we took our chances during counter-attack well too. Reina was his usual composed self compared to his opposition, Valdes. Liverpool did get the 1st goal with some of his 'help'.

Bring Barca on for the 2nd leg at Anfield!

Liverpool 2 - 0 Chelsea

How could I not blog about this?
That was a wonderful strike by Pennant.

Sure can't say the same for Drogba & Ballack...classic!!

Watford 0 - 3 Liverpool

Bellamy & Crouch connects

I'm a happy fan, surely.
We bounced back positively from the 2 Cup defeats in the last 7 days & went to Vicarnage Rd to inflict a 0-3 defeat to Watford. Rafa played 3 strikers, but with Garcia outta the whole of this season, Kuyt played a more 'floating' role between midfield/flank/upfront.

We are still in third, we still have the Premiership to contend with. Not forgetting the Champions League game against Barcelona.

The gloom's lifting......

Liverpool 3 - 6 Arsenal
(Carling Cup Quarterfinal)

Need I say more?
So so disappointing, woke up at 4am to catch the match.

Why are Gunners' second team better than ours? Why are their reserves better than ours? I hate say this, they even have a better reserve goalkeeper than ours! What's worse, Gonzalez & Garcia went off the pitch injured.

It's all gloom now.

Liverpool 1 - 3 Arsenal
(FA Cup 3rd Round)

Gerrard Lifting the FA Cup last season

The image above is certainly something we wouldn't see again this season. Bumped out of the FA Cup as defending champions by the Gunners last weekend, it sure was painful.

We need to move on though, still have to face Arseanl for the Carling Cup quarterfinal. Hopefully, it's time for Rafa & the supporters to rejoice.

Meantime, wise words from Stevie G himself; also on the official Liverpool FC website.

Liverpool 3 - 0 Bolton

Steven Gerrard MBE

Happy New Year, Everyone!!
I'm sure all of you enjoyed yourself during the extended weekend.

Liverpool are back to their winning ways, with their back-to-back wins over Spurs and Bolton; propelled them to 3rd place, behind Chelsea and Man Utd. Yesterday's game against Bolton was well-played & just as I thought we would be dropping 2 points, Crouch scored the goal in magnificent style. Gerrard followed up with another & made it 2-0 within 2 minutes.

Kuyt added a 3rd & the game finished 3-0. Hopefully Liverpool can continue this fantastic run & beat Arsenal in the FA Cup 3rd round & Carling Cup quarter-final.

Liverpool 3 - 0 Spurs

Riise's Thunderbolt makes it 3 - 0

Liverpool had a good game, we worked well in defence; midfield and attack.
We could have had more goals, if not for the gallant efforts of Spurs' defence.

Kuyt & Bellamy were lively upfront, chances were aplenty. Benitez started with Sami & Agger, I was a little surprised not to see Carra, he's been a rock all of last season, seldom misses a match, unless he's injured or suspended. Agger has certainly given Benitez more options at the back & more competition for Sami & Carra.

Bellamy was seen moaning his miss in front of goal, lucky for us that Mark Gonzalez blasted the rebound in. Garcia was sensational after he came on, he immediatly made his impact by making the 2nd goal of the night for Kuyt. A clever pass escaped the Spurs' offside trap & Kuyt made no mistake. Riise's thunderbolt made it 3-0, what a comeback Riise has been. Having sustained 2 injuries to his ankles within short periods of time, he certainly recovered very well & announced his comeback in style.

In all, Liverpool seems to be playing better. I hope that continues.
YOU NEVER WALK ALONE
Liverpool 2 - 0 Newcastle

Kuyt scores his first, Alonso's wonder goal again

Staying up in the morning to watch this game has its merits afterall. It helped that I was off from work on Thursday, :-)

Liverpool 2 - 1 West Ham Utd

Good Goal from Agger

Just when I thought Liverpool was going into the half trailing by 1 - 0 to WHU, a thunderous strike from Daniel Agger put us even!! Minutes later, Crouch put us ahead. 2 - 1.

Great for Liverpool to notch up the first win of the season, 3 points. Merseyside derby against the Everton this weekend, then an away game to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. A string of tough fixtures for Liverpool.

Sheffield United 1 - 1 Liverpool

Fowler Scores the Penalty to salvage a point for Pool

Sheffield Utd did very well for their top flight debut against Liverpool in the EPL season opening match. They weren't over-rawed by the atmosphere & did their job well. I thought they were the better side in the first half.

The starting line-up by Rafael Benitez baffled me, why was Crouch & Finnan on the bench instead of in the starting line-up? We could have had more options upfront with Bellamy & Crouch. Besides, Crouch should be on a high after scoring 2 goals in the England international friendly. Maybe Benitez wanted to rest Crouch for the CL game next week.

Fowler looked jaded & tired during the game, was expecting more from him though. He missed a few good chances in front of goal. Fabio Aurelio seems to have fitted very well with the rest of the team; the only blemish of his good performance was his lapse on concentration - resulting in the goal from Hulse early in the 2nd half.

Riise & Carra were both substituted early in the first half due to ankle injuries. Both are doubtful for the return leg in Kiev for the CL qualifier against Haifa. Let's just hope they recover in time for the away game at Chelsea 3 weeks from now.

Not the best start to the new season, a controversial penalty to salvage a point against the newly-promoted side. We can & will do better!!!!!

You Never Walk Alone !!!!!

Liverpool 2 - 1 Chelsea
(FA Community Shield)

Carra & Gerrard lifts The Shield

Liverpool won, the better team outdone the team with the monies - Chelsea!!

No matter what Jose Mourinho says about Liverpool's not being a threat to his multi-billion squad, fact remains. We have beaten them time and again & collected the silverware. That worm claimed that the team is physically not ready?? What's an EPL team when you are not ready for the toughest league beginning in 6 days' time??

Liverpool's new trial line-up looks good. Without Hyypia, Gerrard, Alonso & Bellamy in the 1st half; the squad looked solid with Momo Sissoko, Carra, Agger, Riise, Pennant, Garcia & Crouch in charge. We played a good game, stuck to our guns. Chelsea, on the other hand, looked lacklustre. No brillance from Terry, Lampard, Robben & gang. They must be missing Claude & Joe Cole. Ballack had to limp off the field early, due to an injury too.

The win certainly boosted our confidence, with the upcoming league game against Sheffield United & the return leg tie with Haifa for the Champions League (which would be played in Kiev).

Good start to the competitive season, Liverpool!! You Never Walk Alone!!

Liverpool 2 - 1 Maccabi Haifa

Late Goal from newbie seals the slender advantage

I have to blog about the win notched up by Liverpool for the CL qualifers.

I know I haven't been writing, that's because work was darn hell these days, with the integration & all, i spent my National Day in the dirty & stuffy whse searching for cargo bound for exportation. My weekends were burnt too.

Nonetheless, EPL is returning next weekend!! I can't wait....the Community Shield is next, in another 50 mins!!!
